Tragically Hip Warn Against Fake Merch Claiming to Benefit Gord Downie Fund

Be warned

The Tragically Hip are warning fans about online scammers, selling merch that they claim benefit Gord Downie’s Fund for Brain Cancer Research.

The Hip’s guitarist Rob Baker took to Twitter this week to call B.S. on the fake merch outlets that have no association to the band.

The Canadian Press reported a Facebook group ‘Gord Downie Supporters’ that has been misleading fans to a faux merch account through a sponsored post with captions like “Wear this T-shirt, and give your support!” The link points to “The Hip Store,” that has no association with The Tragically Hip or their official merch store.

If you’d like to support Gord Downie’s fund, check here, or The Tragically Hip’s official website for merch.

Last summer during the band’s Man Machine Poem tour, ticket bots and scalpers were caught similarily selling tickets and falsely claiming a percentage would go towards Downie’s charity.
