Trudeau Altercation Causes Benches To Clear at the House of Commons

Things get heated in the House

In an absurd string of events at the HOC today, Prime Mister Trudeau was accused of manhandling Opposition Whip Gord Brown and was also accused of knocking an NDP MP into a desk.

Trudeau then apologized.

“I noticed that the opposite member whip was being impeded in his progress,” he said. “I took it upon myself to go and assist him forward which was, I now see, unadvisable as a course of action and resulted in physical contact in this House that we can all accept was unacceptable.”

“And I apologize for that unreservedly and I look for opportunities to make amends to the member and any members who feel negatively impacted by this exchange.”

Trudeau and NDP interim leader Tom Mulcair afterward got into in a heated exchange on the House floor.
