Trump Responds to Meryl Streep via Twitter

Once again Trump used tweets to complain about something he didn't like

Donald Trump wasn’t happy with Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes lifetime achievement acceptance speech. The soon-to-be President of the United States took to his favourite medium, Twitter, to express his opinions.

Trump was responding to a point in Streep’s speech when she mentioned a disturbing moment during the election where Trump appeared to mock a reporter’s physical disability. The New York Times reporter, Serge F. Kovaleski, had met Trump many times throughout the election, although Trump claims that he has no idea who the reporter is or what he looks like.

For those who missed this event, watch the video below.

In her speech, Streep described the event as heartbreaking.

“There was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart,” said Streep. “Not because it was good. There was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter, someone he outranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it. I still can’t get it out of my head because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.”

Of course, Trump’s Twitter responses have become sort of expected at this point, and a few viewers had already predicted what his response to Streep’s speech would be before the president-elect could pull his phone out.
