Watch: Broken Social Scene Perform ‘Halfway Home’ on Colbert

Canadian indie rock collective readying first album in seven years

Broken Social Scene released an emphatic new single Thursday and tested it out on the late-night circuit. The Toronto-based collective hit the stage on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to play “Halfway Home,” the band’s first new song since 2010.

BSS Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Andrew Whiteman, Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, and new member Ariel Engle were accompanied by Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric, and Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars. The total lineup was an incredible thirteen members.

A new Broken Social Scene record is on the way, their first since 2010’s Forgiveness Rock Record. The aforementioned members of Metric and Stars , as well as Feist, have all been confirmed as contributors on the upcoming album.
