Watch: Dear Rouge Live at the 2015 SOCAN Songwriting Prize Session

The ALbertan duo accepted the $10,000 Songwriters Prize

It’s been a massive year for Dear Rouge. Since releasing their breakthrough single “I Heard I Had” in 2013 they’ve followed up the hype with a massively successful debut album Black To Gold. The married Albertan duo Drew and Danielle McTaggart have since toured alongside The Arkells across Canada, played massive festivals throughout the summer like WayHome Music Festival, and now are playing at our 2nd Birthday Party this weekend.

Recently, Dear Rouge were awarded the prestigious Songwriting Prize by SOCAN for “I Heard I Had”. The award is voted on by fans from a list of ten nominees. For the decade milestone this year, the prize was upped from $5000 to $10,000 a Martin Guitar, and Yamaha Keyboard.

In an intimate setting at the SOCAN offices, Drew and Danielle McTaggart stopped by to accept their award, performing their winning track plus three more from their debut studio LP Black To Gold, “We Don’t Fit Together”, “Best Look Lately” and their eponymous single “Black To Gold”, which we captured on video.
