This weekend New York held the massive Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. The festival, which was curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin is a one day festival with the intention of raising awareness and encouraging change for a number of worldwide issues.
Among a number of massive collaborations between artists, including Chris Martin and Ariana Grande or Sting and Common, one of the most impressive was one between Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Beyoncé. Vedder brought out the veteran pop-star to perform a stripped down version of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” in the middle of the band’s headlining set.
Trading verses and singing together for the chorus, the song was overlayed with video of Nelson Mandella giving a speech on ending poverty. Check out the incredible performance in the player above.
