Watch: Joseph (Collective Arts Black Box Session)

Three sisters' voices combine to create pure magic at Indie88 in the Collective Arts Black Box.

Joseph started when Natalie Closner recruited her younger twin sisters Meegan and Allison to join her as vocalists on a solo singer-songwriter project. And as bands like the Beach Boys, the Everly Brothers, and First Aid Kit have proven, there is something magical created when siblings sing together.

“It’s just second nature, like a fifth limb that’s already on you,” says first-born Natalie. “There’s an ability to anticipate what’s going to happen and blend with it. When Meegan and Allison sing, they know exactly what I’m going to do and when.”

The name Joseph is a tribute to both the town of Joseph, Oregon, and the band’s grandfather Jo. After having built a following playing house shows as a trio with just an acoustic guitar and foot drumming, the band just released their second album I’m Alone, No You’re Not this past summer, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. They’ve already performed on The Tonight Show, CONAN, and toured with James Bay.

Watch Joseph perform in the Collective Arts Black Box at Indie88, playing a couple of songs from the new record in the acoustic style they cut their teeth with.
