WATCH: Pearl Jam’s Touching Tribute To The Tragically Hip

"There's something going on north of the border tonight..."

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder showed once again why he is regarded as one of the classiest guys in rock n’ roll. During their show last night in Chicago, Vedder took a moment to pay tribute to Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip, who were playing the final show of their illustrious career in Kingston, Ontario.

The Tragically hip announced in May that Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and would play one final tour.

There’s something going on north of the border tonight…It involves somebody that we consider a family member just ’cause he’s part of the group of touring musicians we’ve met over the years“, Vedder said.

So they’re up there, going through the emotions up there. I just want to send them our energy from our gathering up to their gathering up there, and wish the best to Mr. Gord Downie. We love you“, he finished.
