Watch: The Dears Share “I Used To Pray For The Heavens To Fall”

The band release a high-energy animated lyric video

Growing up as the son of a Jazz musician-tuned preacher, The Dears frontman Murray A. Lightburn was exposed to a broad spectrum of musical influences, to say the least. With hints of gospel, soul, and pop music running through his veins, the same abundance of influences shines through in the band’s latest single “I Used To Pray For The Heavens To Fall”. It’s a fresh mix of psychedelic, funk, and indie-pop.

Spanning nearly two decades together, releasing 5 albums and playing some of the worlds largest festivals from Glastonbury to Coachella, this Montreal band surely knows a thing or two about writing a great pop hit. Coming from their upcoming LP Times Infinity Volume 1 due out September 25th, listen to the colourfully animated lyric video of their first single in the video above.
