Watch: Wolf Alice cover Alt-J’s “Matilda”

Band covered Mercury Prize winning song from 2013

Shortly before attending the 2015 Mercury Prize this weekend, Wolf Alice took to the studio at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge for a cover.

The London-based rock group covered 2013 Mercury Prize winning band Alt-J’s “Matilda” as a nod of good luck. Aside from accompaniment by a string section, Wolf Alice’s cover stays fairly true to the original through form. That night they were up for Album of the Year for their debut LP My Love Is Cool. Though it was Benjamin Clementine’s album At Least For Now that took the title.
