WayHome Announces ArtWalk to Open Festival

Art, a performance by The Darcys and feast in the forest

For those of you able to head to Burl’s Creek the Thursday night of WayHome, you’re in for a treat. This year’s festival kicks off with a very special ArtWalk, accompanied by a performance from Toronto’s The Darcys, and a feast in the forest.

Taking place at 8PM on Thursday July 21, festival-goers have the opportunity to explore the grounds and meet all of the visual artists who have created art installations for this year’s festival. The ArtWalk and Darcys performance is open to all festival pass holders, but the forest feast, presented by Charlie’s Burgers, is a ticketed event. All tickets and offerings are currently on sale at WayHome.com.

WayHome’s creative director Ryan Howes expands on the event:

“To have Do LaB, Angus Watt, OCAD, Aaron Li-Hill, Charles Bierk, Trevor Wheatley and Cosmo Dean, Nathan Whitford, Puncture, Balloon Chain and artists curated by the The Drake that include ‪Lady AIKO, ‬‪BirdO‬, ‪Jimmy Chiale‬, ‪Diana Lynn VanderMeulen‬,‪ Videomancy‬, ‪Peter Rahul‬ and Alex McLeod‬, all in attendance to talk about the pieces they have created for the festival is a huge coup. ‬‬‬‬We are very excited that festival-goers will have the chance to meet them and hear the stories and inspirations behind their pieces. Having Darcys performing at the WayAway stage, nestled in the forest, is going to be a wonderful way to kick off the musical performances over the weekend. We are also very pleased to have a new ticket available for our Feast in the Forest, cast against the beautiful backdrop our pine trees, wildflowers and island, this will be one of the most unique settings Charlie’s Burgers has ever hosted the gourmet dinners they have become famous for.”
