Wilco Cancels Show In Indiana Over Religious Freedom Restoration Act

Wilco joins the growing list of people who are protesting the state of Indiana

Wilco has decided they will not be performing in Indiana after all. The band joined the expanding list of people (Hilary Clinton, Miley Cyrus) that are boycotting the state. They released the following statement via Facebook:

We are canceling our May 7 show at the Murat in Indianapolis. The “Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act” feels like thinly disguised legal discrimination to us. Hope to get back to the Hoosier State someday soon, when this odious measure is repealed. Refunds available at point of purchase.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence said that the bill (which could make it legal for businesses to turn away LGBT customers for religious reason) “isn’t about discrimination,” but that hasn’t stopped people from thinking otherwise.
