Your First Listen: Week Of Feb. 8

5 remarkable tracks you need to hear from The Lumineers, Grimes, Twenty One Pilots, Bob Moses and Tame Impala

Each week we feature five remarkable songs you need to hear on Your First Listen. In case you miss them on air, you can catch up on the weekly tracks right here. Your First Listen airs weekdays at 12:45pm, 5:45pm, and 8:45pm.

The Lumineers – “Ophelia”

Brand new Lumineers! This song sounds like The Lumineers you know and love, but even more intimate. You can hear the room they’re in, it sounds real and authentic. Like you’re there and not in some slick shiny studio.

Grimes – “Kill V. Maim”

Grimes’ album Art Angels has been getting rave reviews. She’s one of those people who is a true and real artist. She does everything herself from writing, production and even the best album art. The whole album is amazing and this song, I say, is the very best part. It’s fast, it’s intense and Grimes plays all sorts of vocal games in it. It will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

Twenty One Pilots – “Ride”

Ohio’s Twenty One Pilots hit the Molson Amphitheatre in June, and if you were sad to see “emo” and “scene” go away… they’re bringing it back for you. It’s like My Chemical Romance collided with Dirty Heads and made this tune, Ride.

Bob Moses – “Tearing Me Up”

New York duo, Bob Moses, are bringing their dark electronic music out into the light. They just performed on Ellen last week and they’re playing Coachella in the spring. Their album “Days Gone By” came out last fall and you need to check out this sexy groove.

Tame Impala – “The Less I Know The Better”

Tame Impala’s album “Currents” came out last year but that doesn’t mean you’re done getting wavy. This is the third single from that album and if you’ve ever fallen for someone who’s with someone else, you’ll get exactly where he’s coming from.
