The Monkey’s Paw specializes in uncommon print, and is full of rare & unique books, especially from the 20th century. The best part? They have a $2 book vending machine! Just slide in a couple dollars and – tada! An old and unusual book is in your hand.

Ten Editions

Type is an indie book store right across from Trinity Bellwoods – they often host events and carry all kinds of interesting books and trinkets. Definitely worth the stop!


471 Bloor Street West

BMV has four locations, but the favourite spot is on Bloor due to it’s size and selection. If you’re ever in need of a popular book for a great price, this should be your source!

Re: Reading is an incredibly charming spot full of pre-loved books. It’s sweet prices and enormous selection of used print will have you strolling endlessly through the shop.

Glad Day

499 Church Street

Glad Day is one of the oldest LGBTQ book shops there is! Not to mention it’s a remarkably welcoming space full of friendly staff. Check out their awesome selection of books, sip on a drink and have a snack! What more could you ask for?

366 Bay Street

Ben Mcnally Books will make you feel as though you’re in story-book heaven with it’s stunning interior. The staff are immensely knowledgable and are great at helping you find the perfect book to suit your interest! Make sure to keep an eye out for the events that go on here.

Book City is an independent store and has several locations amongst the city, the oldest sits upon 348 Danforth – opened in 1976. The family-oriented business will make you feel right at home, and treat you like it too with all their book deals!

Arcadia Art & Rare Books is full of just that! Rare print covers the room and is stacked on shelves to the ceiling. Fair warning, if you enter this store you will leave with a pile of gems – whether you intended to buy books that day or not!
