New breweries are popping up all over Ontario and more and more new beers are coming out every season, so sometimes it can be hard to pick a new brew to try. Whether you’re a seasoned beer connoisseur or just a casual sipper, there’s a beer out there for you.
Check out this list of some of the best new beers the city has to offer.
Patchwork Orange Pumpkin Ale
Eastbound Brewing | Toronto
The Patchwork Orange Pumpkin Ale is jam packed with 100 lbs of pumpkin, and some delicious pie-style spices. Eastbound Brewing wants you to “have your pie and drink it, too” with this fall favourite.
Vanilla Latte Milk Stout
Barncat Artisan Ales | Cambridge
This new brew is a milk stout that comes conditioned on vanilla and Ethiopian Guji coffee beans. The beans come from a fellow Cambridge shop, Monigram Coffee Roasters, so this is the perfect beer for the local coffee lovers out there.
Strawberry Soursop Berliner
Collective Arts Brewing | Hamilton
The Berliner at Collective Arts is a light, tart, and refreshing soursop and strawberry brew. Soursop is a tropical fruit that makes this beer creamy and full of citrus, whereas the strawberries add a certain sweetness to the tart and refreshing Berliner Weisse.
Ajji Majji Nitro Sour
Blood Brothers | Toronto
The Ajji Majji is a creamy dessert style nitro sour. The beer is brewed with fresh Ontario peaches and a hint of vanilla for a delicious sweetness. The nitro brew gives it a full, lactose-like consistency without the heavy sweetness you’d get typically in a lactose beer.
Riverhead Brewing | Kingston
This lager honours the traditional Oktoberfest style of beer with 100% German malt, making a clean amber beer with toasty and bready malt notes. This annual brew is a hit among the Riverhead Brewing Company regulars, and definitely worth a try.
Velvet Dreams Stout
Folly Brewpub | Toronto
Velvet Dreams is a fruited sour with black raspberry and vanilla. Loads of black raspberry puree is added to the sour, which gives the beer a crimson colour. The vanilla beans are added after the fermentation of the brew, making it even more velvety when you take a swig.
Hielo de Fuego, Habanero Chili Lager
Bell City Brewing | Brantford
This copper cerveza-style lager has a lemon pepper aroma, and the rutty malt flavour is taken over the edge with a Habanero kick. This beer is aged in a Tequila barrel and flavoured with white pepper and habanero. All in all, Hielo de Fuego is a unique brew with a lingering heat like no other.
Brite Future IPA
Stray Dog Brewing | Orléans
This beer was brewed as a collaboration with the CRAFT Beer Market Ottawa as part of its Community Brew series. One dollar from every glass goes to the Shine Group’s Community Music Program, which uses music to ignite social change in underserviced neighbourhoods. This beer is a hazy juice bomb with tons of tropical notes for the fruity beer lover.
Raked Over IPA
Wellington Brewery | Guelph
This juicy hop forward IPA has tons of citrus hop notes upfront, with hints of pineapple and mango flavours as an aftertaste. There’s also a spicy habanero kick to finish it off. With a pineapple aroma, mango flavour, and some added heat, this beer is the perfect balance for sweet and spicy fiends.
Farmed & Dangerous Sour Saison
Bandit Brewery | Toronto
This sour with a Brett blend is a variation of Bandit Brewery’s staple saison. The beer has aromas of clove, white pepper, and a light citrus sweetness. It’s an earthy, grassy brew with lots of herbal notes and a hint of sweetness
