10 Unusual And Cool Guitars That You Can Actually Play

It’s Time To Re-think what a Guitar Can Be

When I think of cool guitars, I recall Wayne’s World. Remember that scene? Wayne picks up the Fender Stratocaster that he adores and starts to play Highway to Heaven, only to be shushed by a “no stairway” sign hanging in the guitar shop.

My dad plays guitar (not weird guitars, though), so that scene was particularly interesting to me. I thought the guitar they featured (because it made its way into Wayne’s World, after all) was the coolest guitar around.

Was I ever wrong. I had no idea what the world of cool guitars had to offer. Creativity knows no bounds in this case. As a result, the people who’ve come up with these incredible instruments deserve all the recognition they get in their industry.

These works of art are not only inventive and visually appealing (mostly) but they have completely re-thought what a guitar can be.

Let’s dig into some of the most interesting cool guitars in the world, and you can see for yourself just how incredible they are.

I wonder if Les Paul was sitting around with his friends in the forest smoking a joint and started thinking of the most obscure materials with which he could build a guitar. Kinda looks like it, right? The Log started as just a 4×4 log of wood with strings attached. It played, but after some refinement, the designer eventually added traditional sides to it. This made it resemble a more traditional guitar. Adding the sides improved the play-ability of the instrument.
