Say what you will about UK-based rock group The 1975, you gotta give it to them for starting their latest songs off with the lyrics “We’re fucking in a car shooting heroin”. That’s quite a power move.
The 1975 today shared a new song today “Love It If We Made It” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music. The latest track follows “Give Yourself A Try”, their first from their recently announced next album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationship, previously thought to be called Music For Cars.
Singer Matty Healy broke down the song’s bold lyrics to Zane Lowe:
“I just like things that I believe in, and if you’re not willing to be bold how can you have conviction?
“It’s very objective this song. I think that’s one of the things I suppose I get to hide behind because a lot of the stuff you can be upset about in that song, I never said in the first place — apart from ‘Poison me daddy.’ And that’s definitely our best line.”
"I'm saying a lot of individual things, but the fact of the matter is all of these things are nuclear." @Truman_Black breaks down the lyrics of @the1975's #LoveItIfWeMadeIt.https://t.co/9K07kRsgfi pic.twitter.com/IBS1lgofDQ

Some of the lyrics use offensive language, pulling direct and indirect quotes from controversial figures. One lines in particular come from American President Donald Trump, using the abhorrent comments made on the Hollywood Access Bus Tape “I moved on her like a bitch.” Listen to the new single below and make your own observations.
