Have you ever wished Toronto was a little (read: LOT) more bike-friendly? We get it. We hate to rub salt in an already irritated wound but WIRED recently published an article of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. Sorry folks, no Toronto on the list.
So how did they come up with the list? They link to their full methodology in the article but provide a general summary of how they came up the list:
“the key to a top spot is clear. You need serious advocacy, bike facilities, social acceptance, and a general perception that cycling is safe. You get extra points for a higher modal percentage—the share of residents who get around by bike as opposed to car or public transit—and for a 50-50 gender split among cyclists.”
No love for Toronto but our friendly neighbours to the east, Montreal snuck in the last spot.
Here are the Top 20 Most Bike Friendly Cities according to WIRED.
