5 Can’t Miss Flicks at the Toronto After Dark Horror Film Fest

Six days in, the 10th annual Toronto After Dark horror, sci-fi, action and cult film festival comes to a close this Friday, but there are still tickets available for each remaining night. Here’s your primer on what to catch.

BACKTRACK | TUESDAY, OCT. 20 | 7:00 P.M.

This supernatural horror thriller from Australia tracks a troubled psychotherapist (Adrien Brody) as he returns to his rural hometown, intending to confront some of the demons from his past after encountering a series of ghostly phenomena in the city.

NINA FOREVER | WEDNESDAY, OCT. 21 | 7:00 P.M.

After a successful premiere at this year’s SXSW, this 2015 British horror comedy gives a new meaning to safe sex as a ghost keeps reappearing in her ex-boyfriend’s bed to sarcastically lambast him and his new lover whenever they start to get passionate.

LOVE & PEACE | THURSDAY, OCT. 22 | 9:30 P.M.

In one of the most hilarious arcs of this fest’s programming, this bizarre creature fantasy comedy follows the misadventures of a failed rock star-turned office clerk and his faithful pet turtle that just wants to grow up to Godzilla proportions.

AG | THURSDAY, OCT. 22 | 7:00 P.M.

You want another Japanese splatter horror film about school kids getting caught up in dystopian slaughter games? Tag is it. Adapted from the same Yosuke Yamada novel that inspired the Chasing World films and TV show, this one follows characters trying to outrun a faceless force aiming to decrease the world’s population of schoolgirls, one tag at a time.

PATCHWORK | FRIDAY, OCT. 23 | 7:00 P.M.

Would a horror film fest be anything without its Frankenstein? Enter Patchwork, a story following a creature assembled from three murdered women on a quest to hunt down their murderers.
