5 things to do this weekend in Toronto

Spend the weekend with your boo or say 'boo' to this weekend.

This weekend can either be full of love if you want it to! Totally your choice, but we have made up a list of the coolest things you can do this weekend. From art markets to movies to performance art, this weekend is full with fun (and hopefully some couple-free activities).

Here are 5 things you can do this weekend in Toronto.

Thank u, Next: An Evening of Poetry and Performance

Creeds Coffee Bar on Dupont | February 15, 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm | Free

Just aren’t feeling Valentine’s Day weekend? Join the crowd at Creeds for a bunch of poets that are aren’t into it just as much as you. Obviously inspired by the hit song by Ariana Grande, it is sure to be packed with some sassy sonnets about an old ex, but don’t worry, the bar will be serving drinks alllllll night.

10 Things I Hate About You

TIFF Bell Lightbox | February 16, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm | Tickets

Head on over to the TIFF Bell Lightbox for some cheesy teenage love and some badass female protagonists. This movie stars the late Heath Ledger in all of his long dark locked glory, as he wins over the ultra smart and beautiful Julia Stiles. It may hurt your heart just a bit, but this is definitely a good way to spend your Saturday. You can also hit the in-house restaurant, Canteen, before for a little lunch or after for an early dinner!

Catch a Concert

Well, well, well we are throwing a concert this Friday night at the Rec Room at 7pm. Whitby’s own Chastity is gracing us with a live performance of their “Death Lust” video, and a full night of good tunes. Joining them is The Greys and Casper Skulls, both from Toronto, so you know that it will be a sweet and local music night. Come down to hear some punk and rock this weekend.

Feeling more of a solid guitar night instead? You’re in luck, Kurt Vile will be at The Danforth Music Hall on Saturday night. His extremely calming voice and sweet, talented guitar playing is sure to make the night a good one. Joining him is The Sadies, a Canadian rock and roll band from right here in Toronto who are sure to put on a great show with their hits all the way from 1998. A great venue with some great bands, what’s better than that?

Anti-Valentine’s Day Rooftop Silent Disco

Hemingway’s | February 16, 10:00 pm – 2:00 am | Tickets

Tired of the crazy loud music at the club, but love to dance? Hemingway’s has got it all set up for you with wireless headphones that will play the music that you want. With 3 different genres of music available, you just need to choose the colour you want (Red: Rock/Disco, Green: 80’s/90’s/00’s and Blue: Top 40/Hip Hop) and then get to the dancing! Even better is that the event is held on their rooftop patio, which is heated and covered for all your partying needs.

Flea Markets

The Fermenting Cellar & The Great Hall | February 17, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm | Free

We just couldn’t decide, so you are all getting TWO markets this week. The Leslieville Flea and the Trinity Bellwoods Flea are happening this Sunday, just in time for the family to spend some time together for family day. The Leslieville Flea is in the Distillery District, so after you are done shopping around the artisans, you can go grab a bite to eat or just walk around! If you decide to go the Trinity Bellwoods route, then you can take a stroll down Queen Street West or hang out in the nearby park! Gather up those loved ones and spend some time bonding.
