Prime Minister Trudeau is having a tough time following the death of a Canadian hostage in the Philippines this week. He had to hold a press conference yesterday to reiterate that Canada will never pay ransom for the release of hostages. 68 year old John Ridsdel was taken while on vacation near Davao City

2. SUMMER ROAD WORK
Road work deferred for the Pan Am Games will be done this summer. Consider yourself warned. There will be lane closures on major roadways including the Gardiner.

3. RAPTORS WIN!
The Raptors offered up sick notes to fans who wanted to get out of work early to watch game five yesterday. It was another early start time at 6pm. Friday’s game will be in Indiana. The Raptors came back to win game five 102-99. They now lead the series 3-2.

4. CANADA’S 1ST YOUTUBE SPACE
George Brown College School of Design has opened Canada’s first YouTube space right here in Toronto. Its near Richmond and Sherbourne. YouTube creators can book equipment, studios and sound stages free of charge.

5. PRINCE’S TORONTO GUITARIST SPEAKS
Toronto guitarist Donna Grantis who was in Prince’s backing band 3rd Eye Girl released a statement on Facebook. She calls Prince a creative genius, innovator and inspiration.
