5 Things You Need To Know Today: May 4, 2016

1. UBER IS LEGAL

Uber is finally legal in Toronto but it will probably cost you more. City council voted to change the Uber X base fare from $2.50 to $3.25 per ride. Taxis will now be allowed to offer surge pricing online.


 

2. PRIDE MONTH

Pride Week will be replaced by Pride Month in Toronto this year. Prime Minister Trudeau, Margaret Atwood and Star Trek‘s George Takei will all take part in the month long Pride celebration that starts in June and wraps up the first weekend of July.


 

3. RAPTORS LOSE

Kyle Lowry scored from half court to push the Raptors game into overtime. The Raptors still lost game 1 to the Miami Heat. Game 2 is tomorrow at the ACC.


 

4. FORT MAC WILDFIRE

The entire city of Fort McMurray Alberta has been evacuated because of wild fires. Nearly 60,000 people have been displaced. If you want to help out, donate $5 by texting the word “Redcross” to 30333.


 

5. MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU

It’s Star Wars Day so May the 4th be with you. There will be a costume parade at Yonge & Dundas Square tonight at 6.
