Back for a second year, Let’s Get Friendship Right is a special live tribute show, honouring Dave Bookman – our beloved, deeply respected and long-time music broadcaster and DJ at both CFNY-102.1 and at CIND-88.1. Dave provided foundational support to Indie music in the city, not only on the radio but as host and co-curator of Nu Music Nite at The Horseshoe Tavern for 24 years. Bookie interviewed some of the biggest names in music.
Featuring over 30 artists, all covering the songs from The Tragically Hip, Let’s Get Friendship Right is confirmed for May 9, 2025 @ The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street) in Toronto. It follows last year’s tribute show, which featured a vast collective of artists covering songs from The Replacements. This year, the show will again be supported by the returning ‘all-star house band’, of Jud Ruhl, Anna Ruddick, Jody Brummell and Ian Blurton. The show will be hosted by Josie Dye, a very close friend of Bookie‘s, who worked with him at both THE EDGE and INDIE88.
Presented by INDIE88 and Departure admission to the show is FREE with a non-perishable food item for The Daily Bread Food Bank (CMW passes will be honoured, with a donation). The show was organized (again) by Stephen Stanley (Lowest of The Low + Stephen Stanley Band) and Elliott Lefko (Goldenvoice), both incredibly close friends of Dave’s. Poster artwork created with art by Kurt Swinghammer, featuring Gord Downie’s signature fedora, and design by Juno Award winning graphic designer, Antoine Moonen.
