Lana Wachowski, who previously co-directed the original film with her sister Lilly, is set to write and direct the sequel. Wachowski will co-write the script for the film with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell, and production for the film is set to begin in early 2020.
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” Wachowski explains. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends”.
