Director Todd Phillips has revealed that a sequel to the forthcoming Joaquin Phoenix-starring Joker film may be in the works.
Joker is set to debut at the Venice Film Festival this month, and ahead of its release, Phoenix appears to be leading the Oscars 2020 race with his role as the Joker. Now, Phillips reveals that he has his sights set on a sequel because of Phoenix’s performance.
“One thing I will tell you: I would do anything with [Phoenix], any day of the week. There’s nobody like him,” Phillips explained to Total Film. “If he was willing to do [a sequel] and if people show up to this movie, and Warners came to us and said, ‘You know what? If you guys could think of something…’ Well, I have a feeling that he and I could think of something pretty cool.”
Joker is set to hit the big screen on October 4th, 2019.
