Netflix has shared a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
The touching clip previews the animated film, which this time, has a darker twist. With a claymation-style animation, Pinocchio and Geppetto build their relationship, as they have to face darker trials than in the fun-loving original.
“From my many wanderings on this earth I had so much to say about imperfect fathers and imperfect sons,” the narrator, who is a cricket, says in the clip. “And about loss and love. I’ve learned that there are old spirits who rarely involve themselves in the human world. But on occasion, they do. I want to tell you a story. It’s a story you may think you know, but you don’t.”
