What’s better than a night out gazing upon world-renowned artwork with your partner? Your partner getting down on one knee and proposing to marry them at said art exhibit.
That’s exactly what happened at the Art Gallery of Ontario recently when a man asked his girlfriend of five years to marry him. The couple were spending the afternoon in the Mystical Landscapes exhibit which just closed this past weekend when he popped the question.
As Kaitlin Higgins leisurely strolled through, admiring masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh and more, her boyfriend Michael Pilatzkie was pacing nervously, looking for the right spot to ask the most important question of all time.
When he finally popped the question, standing beneath Eugène Jansson’s “Gryning över Riddarfjärden”, Higgins, thankfully said “yes.”
“The rest of the visit was spent taking photographs together in the beautiful galleries trying to take in all of the art but often getting completely distracted by the excitement of being newly engaged,” Higgins told the AGO.
“We may have rushed through the second half of Mystical Landscapes because we were just so excited, but I’ve been back to visit as many times as possible since then to relive the moment over and over.”
