Earlier this week, Alabama Shakes drummer Steven William Johnson was arrested on several child abuse charges in Limestone County, Alabama.

According to WHNT, Johnson is being held at Limestone County Jail after being indicted by a Limestone Grand Jury on counts of “willful torture, willful abuse, and cruelly beating or otherwise willfully maltreating a child under the age of 18.”

In March of last year, Johnson pled guilty to violating a protection of abuse order back in 2019. This violation was of an abuse order filed by Johnson’s ex-wife, who accused the drummer of threatening and harassing her, breaking into her home, and “choking, injuring and stalking her,” according to AL.com.

Currently, his bond is set at $21,500 and he has an arraignment scheduled for April 7th.
