Canadian dream-pop outfit Alvvays played their first show since the beginning of the pandemic on October 27th. During the performance, they debuted two new songs live.
Alvvays opened for the Strokes in Los Angeles, and they’re set to play a Halloween show in San Francisco over the weekend. According to Setlist.fm, the new songs are called “Many Mirrors” and “After The Earthquake.” Here’s hoping that these two tunes are set to appear on an upcoming album. Especially considering they haven’t released a new album since 2017’s Antisocialites.
The new tunes seem to capture Alvvays’ quintessential dreamy, airy sound. With jangly guitars and captivating keys, these new tracks are sure to fill the void for Alvvays fans.

While Alvvays haven’t released new music in a while, they were performing some amazing covers back in 2019. At SummerStage in Central Park in June of 2019, they covered The Breeders’ “Divine Hammer.” The clip sees Alvvays putting their distinctive surf-style spin on The Breeders’ alt-rock track. Their cover comes packed with energetic guitar lines, upbeat drums, and frontwoman Molly Rankin’s quintessential melancholic vocals.
In December of 2018, they covered Devo’s “Freedom of Choice” during a five-night stand at Danforth Music Hall. The live rendition of the title track from Devo’s 1980 album is definitely a must-watch.
Alvvays may have performed new tunes live, but The Strokes also delivered the live debut of two of their tracks. During the same show, they delivered the live debut of “Call It Fate, Call It Karma” and “At The Door.”
