Amy Winehouse’s family reveal plans for biopic

The want someone to portray the legendary singer the way she truly was

A couple of days after announcing a holographic concert of the powerful jazz singer, Amy Winehouse’s family recently confirmed that they have signed a multi-million-pound deal with Monumental Pictures for a biopic of the legendary singer’s life.

Producer Alison Owen is set to direct the take of Winehouse’s rise to fame up until her untimely death in 2011 at age 27. The story will be written by Geoff Deane, who has also written comedy movies such as Kinky Boots.

There has not yet been an actress cast in the role of the iconic singer, but her father, Mitch, insists it won’t be Lady Gaga because she doesn’t speak their kind of English.

“What we want is somebody to portray Amy in the way that she was,” Mitch Winehouse told The Sun. “The funny, brilliant, charming and horrible person that she was.”

The big screen take of Amy Winehouse’s life is set to start filming next year.
