George Miller’s prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road is coming together, as the director has tapped Anya Taylor-Joy to play Imperator Furiosa in the forthcoming film titled Furiosa. Charlize Theron starred as Furiosa in Miller’s 2015 film, and the director had been searching for an actress in her 20s to take on the role for the origin story.
Actors Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have also been announced as cast members.

Taylor-Joy recently completed work on Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho, and has appeared in Emma, and the M. Night Shyamalan films Split and Glass. Hemsworth is pretty much a household name at this point for his work in Marvel’s Thor and Avengers films. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II recently won an Emmy Award for his performance in HBO’s Watchmen, and he is currently working on the fourth Matrix film.
As of right now we don’t have an estimated release date for Furiosa.
