It’s official: Aquaman 2 is going ahead after the original flick rang in as the highest-grossing DC movie of all time. Rumours of a sequel began circulating before the first film was even released, as Warner Bros. expressed confidence that Aquaman would be a hit at the box office.
The original film opened in December with $67.8 million USD, going on to earn $1.12 billion USD globally, making it the first DC movie to pass the $1 billion mark since The Dark Knight Rises.

Now, it’s even been confirmed that the original movie’s co-writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been hired to work on a follow-up. Additionally, according to the Hollywood Reporter, James Wan and Peter Safran are in talks to come back as producers, but it’s not yet clear whether Wan would return as director as well.
