UPDATE: It has now safe to say that “Reflektor” refers to Arcade Fire’s new single that will indeed drop September 9 at 9:30pm Newfoundland time (8PM EST). Dutch filmmaker/director Anton Corbijn revealed in an interview with The Daily Beast that he had been working with the Montreal band on the video for “Reflektor” (which will also premiere September 9) and that the teaser video released yesterday (below) is a clip from the official music video. “The song is called ‘Reflektor,’ and you’ll be able to see it Monday evening,” Corbjin told The Daily Beast.
Arcade Fire’s highly anticipated fourth record is set to arrive on October 29 via Merge Records.
Another piece of the mysterious Arcade Fire Reflektor campaign surfaced today. Last week it was confirmed that Arcade Fire was indeed behind the graffiti campaign and that something big will be unveiled on September 9 at 9pm. It is still unclear whether Reflektor refers to the album name or a single.
Yesterday a teaser trailer appeared on the band’s website that previews 40 seconds of music. The final scene notes “9:30 Newfoundland” suggesting that the release will occur at 8pm EST.
