Arcade Fire’s new video explains a bit of the absurdity surrounding their most recent album Everything Now.
The story sets up the band as bankrupt, leading them to sell out to a company called Everything Now for huge amounts of cash. In return, their faces are plastered on cereal boxes and car ads. Eventually they decide they refuse to be corporate toys, and attempt to flee with their earnings. The first part of the video during “Put Your Money On Me” sees them sell out, and latter part for “We Don’t Deserve Love” finds them locked up for their crimes.
The 15 minute video directed by David Wilson ties together visual motifs used in previous video releases and also stars Toni Colette.
