Arcade Fire’s Win and Régine Honoured by Quebec Government

Husband and wife recognized for contributions to province's artistic development

Arcade Fire bandmates Win Butler and Régine Chassagne will be presented with the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Quebec in a May 29 ceremony at Montreal’s Phi Centre.

The Ordre des arts et des lettres, presented by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, is awarded to “individuals who have played a prominent role in Quebec’s artistic development.” Past recipients include filmmakers Denis Villeneuve and Denis Arcand, Leonard Cohen, and dancer/choreographer Marie Chouinard.

“By placing their talents and passions at the service of their art and by committing themselves to their communities and to the development of their respective disciplines, they have bequeathed to us the richest and most valuable heritage of all: a culture to be shared,” chair of the Order Marie Coté said in a statement.

Now, back to anxiously awaiting more new music from one of Canada’s most famous indie rock outfits.
