Bahamas and Scary Pockets team up for funky cover of ‘Power of Love’

Last week Scary Pockets and Bahamas shared a cover of Huey Lewis and the News’ classic 80’s tune “Power of Love.”

Scary Pockets are an incredible funk band formed from the LA music scene. A revolving line up of artists often join them to perform and record various covers. Just this year they have already released two cover albums: Windows and LIFE featuring artists such as Madison Cunningham, India Carney and Jacob Jeffries.

For last week’s collaboration, the band brought in Toronto singer/songwriter Afie Jurvanen AKA Bahamas. The cover balances the smooth blend between Afie’s solid lower octave and the Scary Pocket’s lush instrumentation. The song is reborn in a whole new way.

Listen to “Power of Love” below.

Scary Pockets also shared a super cute clip of Afie in Dad mode, with the caption “and THAT’S the power of love”.

Scary Pockets’ latest cover is a smooth, dark rendition of The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” featuring Nataly Dawn.

Meanwhile, Bahamas will be embarking on the ‘Still Sad Tour’ at the end of July that spans across North America to celebrate his 2020 album, Sad Hunk. On December 1st, Bahamas will be performing at Meridian Hall in Toronto.
