Band Of Horses have returned with a new single “In Need of Repair.”
The group is readying the release of their new album, Things Are Great, out January 21st, 2022. “In Need of Repair” serves as the follow-up to “Crutch,” which came out earlier in the fall.
The track sees Band Of Horses dwelling on broken relationships. Lyrically, they deliver lines like, “Stayin’ friends is really fantastic/ We’ll be together from the cradle to the casket/ Well, maybe/ It’s been a while since I talked with you/ I heard abotu what you’re goin’ through, and it’s crazy.”

Things Are Great marks the follow-up to 2016’s Why Are You OK. During the gap between records both guitarist Tyler Ramsey and bassist Bill Reynolds left Band Of Horses.
Much of the record was written prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, including “In Need Of Repair.” It sees frontman Ben Bridwell handle the bulk of production duties along with contributions from Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, Dave Fridmann, and Dave Sardy.

“In Need of Repair” and “Crutch” serve as perfect previews of Things Are Great. Upon the release of “Crutch,” the band explained:
“I think like a lot of my songs, ‘Crutch’ starts with something from my real life. Obviously ‘Crutch’ means some of the things that I was dependent on. My relationship for one. I think I wanted to say, ‘I’ve got a crush on you,’ and I thought it was funny how relationships also feel like crutches. I feel like everybody has had a time when nothing goes right and you still have to carry on. I think that feeling hits you in this song even if you don’t know what the specifics are.”
