It’s been a relatively quiet week on the album release front, but don’t sleep on Wolf Alice’s Visions of a Life. That said, there’s been no shortage of fresh new tunes arriving in time for your weekend listening schedule.
Check out the latest from Belle and Sebastian, Cloud Nothings, Liam Gallagher, and more in this week’s installment of Best New Indie.
Belle and Sebastian -“We Were Beautiful”
Earlier in the summer Belle and Sebastian returned with their first new single since 2015’s Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance. This morning they shared the music video for the new single, titled “We Were Beautiful.”
Liam Gallagher – “Greedy Soul”
The former Oasis frontman just released a video for his new single ‘Greedy Soul’. Both the single and video come as a preface to his debut solo album As You Were, which will be released on October 9th.
*repeat repeat – “Speaker Destroyer”
Where “Girlfriend” highlighted *repeat repeat’s penchant for mixing California surf culture and garage rock, “Speaker Destroyer” boasts an edgier feel that lent itself well to running with a live performance video.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – “Phone Jam”
Along with the teasers for a forthcoming Fever To Tell reissue, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs also shared a new song called “Phone Jam,” which is comprised of snippets of jam sessions and old conversations between the band members.
William Patrick Corgan – “The Spaniards”
Billy is back with new music and it sounds at once refreshing and familiar.
L7 – “Dispatch From Mar-A-Lago”
Los Angeles-based punk rock outfit L7 return from an 18-year hiatus to take a well-timed shot at Donald Trump’s favourite getaway. They have another single coming later this fall.
Run The Jewels – “Mean Demeanor”
El-P and Killer Mike are back with a fresh cut, which was featured in a recent trailer for EA Sports’ FIFA 18 video game.
Bully – “Kills To Be Reistant”
Bully’s new record Losing arrives on October 20 via Sub Pop and it’s shaping up to be a banger. “Kills To Be Resistant” is the third release from the forthcoming album, following “Feel the Same” and “Running.”
Radiohead & Hans Zimmer – “(ocean) bloom”
Blue Planet II will have a soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer and Radiohead. The song in the trailer is a reworking of Radiohead’s song “Bloom,” which was re-imagined with the help of Hans Zimmer and now renamed “(ocean) bloom.”
Cloud Nothings – “Relief”
Ohio-punk rockers Cloud Nothings cleaned up well for their 2017 record Life Without Sound, but their contribution to benefit compilation Taking It To Heart Volume Two is an exercise in lo-fi perfection. Check out “Relief.”
