In the tradition of Black Friday, welcome the idea of over-consumption and binge the following list. Though it was a quieter for music releases, The Weeknd stole the spotlight leading up to the release of Starboy, and the music world obsessed over Kanye West’s breakdown this week.

The Microphones – EARLY TAPES, 1996-1998

Great news for fans of Phil Elverum’s lo-fi indie rock perfection under his The Microphones banner. The Washington-based songwriter is set to release a collection of 16 songs on December 9, called The Microphones EARLY TAPES, 1996-1998”. Stream the song “Compressor” above.

 

Cloud Nothings – “Internal World”

This Cleveland post-punk troupe is set to release their forthcoming record Life Without Sound January 27th. They’ve shared another fuzzed-out wistful track, following “Modern Act” a couple weeks back.

The critically acclaimed electronic artist Flume marked his return today with the release of the Skin Companion EP I. Take a listen to “TRUST” featuring Isabella Manfredi from Australian rock band The Preatures.

Mother Mother – “Love Stuck”

This week Mother Mother announced a whole string of tour dates to coincide with the release of a new record early next year. Their sixth studio LP No Culture is set to release on February 10th.
