SZA – “Hit Different (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)”

Ty Dolla $ign).” The new track marks SZA’s first new tune since the release of 2017’s CTRL, and she surprise dropped it Thursday at midnight. The track comes accompanied by a high-budget video that comes packed with gritty images of SZA and Ty Dolla $ign performing in a junkyard.

The Zolas – “Wreck Beach/Totem Park”

The Zolas have shared their final Wong Kar-Wai-inspired lyric video for their new track “Wreck Beach/Totem Park.” “‘Wreck Beach/Totem Park’ is about living my whole life beside the Musqueam reserve, never being taught nor thinking to ask why they live quietly in a small corner of a land that used to be all theirs,” The Zolas explain. “In the last five to ten years, like most people, I started hearing a lot of voices about our country’s history from an Indigenous point of view.”

Adrianne Lenker – “Anything”

Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker has announced that she’s releasing two new solo albums called songs and instrumentals, which are set for release on October 23rd. As part of the announcement, Lenker has shared a new track called “anything.” The 13 tracks were created earlier this year after Big Thief’s spring and summer tour were cancelled due to the pandemic. After the cancellation, Lenker took to the Berkshire Mountains to write some tunes in a cabin with sound engineer Phil Weinrobe.

Hot Chip – “Candy Says (Velvet Underground cover)”

Electronic outfit Hot Chip have announced that they’ve signed up to curate the latest entry in the Late Night Tales mix series, which is set for release on October 2nd. As part of the announcement, they’ve shared a cover The Velvet Underground’s “Candy Says.” The new 19-track compilation is set to arrive on October 2nd, and it features three new Hot Chip tracks in addition to a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Candy Says.” Hot Chip’s collection of Late Night Tales was spearheaded by the band’s Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard.

MONOWHALES – “All or Nothing”

Following the release of “RWLYD (Really Wanna Let You Down),” indie pop outfit MONOWHALES have shared a new single called “All or Nothing.” “‘All or Nothing’ is about the attitude we bring to everything we do as MONOWHALES,” the band explains. “As an independent band, we risk it all to bring our art to our fans, and this song tells the story of overcoming the obstacles and naysayers that have stood in our way since the beginning. We are going to make it no matter what it takes, and we’re going to do it our way.”

Michi – “Escondida”

Michi has shared a video for her new single “Escondida.” “The value of solitude, even outside these testing times of quarantine, are what pushed me to bring ‘Escondida’ out of hiding,” Michi explains. “I’ve always leaned on the company of others to fill a void or distract myself, but it wasn’t until these last two years and the start of my project that I felt connected to being alone, even if with my thoughts, regrets, memories both good and bad. ‘Escondida’ is my love song to the haven I’ve found in mentally and emotionally being alone.”
