April showers have really stuck around this week, and, while hopefully you make it outside this weekend, if not we don’t blame you because there’s plenty of good new music out.
Mac DeMarco, Perfume Genius, and At The Drive-In all shared new albums this week that are definitely worthwhile. This week saw the return of some many beloved groups including the first new track from HAIM in four years, and Grizzly Bear’s first new song in five years. So strap in, get out headphones on and chill out to the best new indie songs of the week:
Land of Talk – “Heartcore”
Land of Talk shared the fourth new track off the band’s upcoming album Life After Youth. Elizabeth Powell’s vocals are layered over entrancing drums and a grooving bass throughout.
Grizzly Bear – “Three Rings”
Months and months of teasing and hints later, and Grizzly Bear have finally released a full new song. “Three Rings” is the first new song from the band’s upcoming, yet to be revealed album that they’ve been working on for the last year. This will be the first new music from the Brooklyn-based group in five years, following the release of Shields in 2012.
LCD Soundsystem – “Call the Police” & “American Dream”
Last August, LCD Soundsystem cancelled the Asian and Australian part of their comeback tour, to get to work on their new album. This week, the seminal rock group shared two new singles, the first in seven years: “Call the Police” & “American Dream“.
Japanese Breakfast – “Machinist”
Along with the announcement of her upcoming album Soft Sounds From Another Planet, Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast shared “Machinist,” which has a retro and galactic feel. Her vocals levitate outside the ISS as the hazy pop song and auto-tuned vocals fly in zero gravity.
HAIM – “Want You Back”
After sharing their first new taste of new song in four years last week, ”Right Now,” HAIM’s announced their follow up to Days Are Gone, called Something To Tell You is set to release July 7, 2017. The HAIM sisters are set to perform on Saturday Night Live May 13th.

Whitehorse – “Nighthawks”
Hamilton husband and wife duo Whitehorse shared this new track from their upcoming album “Panther In The Dollhouse” out July 7, 2017. It’s the kind of track you’d expect to hear watching a cowboy enter town for the first time in a spaghetti western.
The Dears – “Of Fistcufts”
Montreal’s orchestral-pop-noir band, The Dears are anticipating the release of their seventh studio record ‘Times Infinity Volume Two’ with “Of Fistcufts”. Listen above.
