Things are heating up this summer!
The past few weeks have delivered us some of the best new music we’ve set our ears on this year, and yet, the music Gods keep on giving. With some huge album releases today including Portugal. The Man, Fleet Foxes and of course Lorde, it’s a heck of a weekend for record shopping.
Take a look at the Best New Indie tracks of the week:
Wolf Alice – “Yuk Foo”
Wolf Alice frontwoman Annie Mac has returned after six months maternity leave to drop this anger-filled track. It’s the first from their sophomore album LP Visions of a Life.
Everything Everything – “Can’t Do”
UK’s experimental alt-pop group Everything Everything dropped this hot track this week, surprising fans with announcement of a new album Fever Dream is coming.
Queens of the Stone Age- “The Way You Used to Do”
QOTSA finally has a new album coming out this year. Titled Villains, the album is set to release on August 25 via Matador. Listen to their first track, the fuzzy, rock-heavy “The Way You Used To Do” above.
BAIO – “DANGEROUE ANAMAL”
Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio has a knack for writing hooky melodies and stimulating vocal melodies. After sharing “PHILISOPHY!” from his forthcoming album Man of the World, he shared this moody slow-burner.
Dan Auerbach – “Run That Race”
Dan Auerbach just released his second solo album Waiting On A Song, but the Black Keys member isn’t done releasing new music. Auerbach shared “Tun That Rave” this week, his contribution to the Cars 3 soundtrack, a song he describes as “never giving up and always trying your best.”
Arcade Fire – “Creature Comfort”
Following “Everything Now,” Arcade Fire returned with mew material in the form of “Creature Comfort.” The new album Everything Now drops July 28th.
The Killers – “The Man”
Earlier this week, The Killers were recorded playing through a new track live in Atlantic City. While some of us assumed “Run For Cover” would be the band’s first new single since 2012’s Battle Born, we were mistaken. The Killers shared “The Man” across streaming sites this week, and it’s a sonic party of 70s disco infused with funk.
Stars – “Privilege”
Toronto’s baroque pop group Stars announced that they are closing in on releasing a new album. From it, they shared two new tracks “Privilege” and “We Called It Love”. Listen to the former above.
Good Kid – “Witches”
If you love either Bloc Party or Two Door Cinema Club, you’re going to love Toronto’s Good Kid. This band of full-time software developers wrote this song about a trip to Shanghai, where they were told by a fortune teller they were going to die really soon. It might be a creepy concept, but the song is fun as hell.
