With tons of great albums on the way for spring, it’s no surprise this week brought a fruitful gathering of awesome new tracks from artists gearing up for big releases.
Lots of great music news this week including, animated group Gorillaz dropping news of a major release this April, another song from supergroup BNQT, new music from Land of Talk, the latest from Canadian favourites The New Pornographers and Hollerado, and more. Gorillaz – “Andromeda” ft. D.R.A.M.
This week, Gorillaz dropped four brand new songs, announcing their forthcoming record Humanz, which is set to release April 28th.
Future Islands – “Cave”
Future Islands have been working away on some new stuff for their upcoming album The Far Field which is set to be released on April 7th of this year. They have already released a single from the album “Ran,” and have decided to throw another one our way titled “Cave.”
The New Pornographers – “Whiteout Conditions”
Whiteout Conditions is set to release April 7th, and is the first album by The New Pornographers that won’t feature Dan Bejar. Frontman A.C. Newman mentioned the lack of Dan Bejar to Stereogum as “He’s still in the band, they just couldn’t make it work, logistically, this time.” Take a listen to the title track from the upcoming album above.
Hollerado – “Don’t Shake”
Hollerado’s “Don’t Shake” touches on a personal story. “When we were writing this album, our guitar player Nixon was diagnosed with testicular cancer,” the band told Exclaim. He wrote this song as his way of asking the people in his life to help him believe everything would turn out all right, even if it meant pretending.”
Perfume Genius – “Slip Away”
The latest from Perfume Genius mastermind Mike Hadreas, coming from the new record No Shape, which drops May 5th.
Land of Talk – “This Time”
Land of Talk are following up the release of “Inner Lover,” with another track from their upcoming album Life After Youth, coming May 19th.
Said the Whale – “Miscarriage”
“Miscarriage” is the latest track from Said the Whale’s forthcoming record As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide, and serves as a stark reminder of the realities of life.
She Devils – “Hey Boy”
Montreal art-pop duo She Devils have followed up their recent release of “The World Laughs” with “Hey Boy.”
BNQT – “Unlikely Force”
This powerhouse indie supergroup, composed of members of Band of Horses, Midlake, Grandaddy, Franz Ferdinand premiered “Unlikely Force” off their debut record Volume 1.
Fast Romantics – “Everybody’s Trying to Steal Your Heart
The latest from Fast Romantics’ forthcoming album American Love, following “Julia” and “Why We Fight.” Fast Romantics gave us a preview of “Get Loved” and “Ready for the Night” in the Stiegl Hidden Studio.
