The first teaser trailer for Hocus Pocus 2 is finally here.
The Sanderson Sisters are back and witchier than ever in the sequel to the beloved cult comedy. Hocus Pocus 2, which is out on Disney+ on September 30th, is set 29 years after the events of the original 1993 film. Whitney Peak (Gossip GirlAmerican Horror Stories), and Lilia Buckingham are set to star alongside Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, who star as the three witches: Winnie, Sarah, and Mary. Peak will play Becca while Escobedo plays Izzy and Buckinham plays Cassie.
Becca, Izzy, and Cassie are three high school students who have an eerie annual tradition. “Birthday ritual, scary movie marathon, same as every year,” Becca says in the clip. In fact, it happens to be Becca’s 16th birthday, which is a pretty special day in the Hocus Pocus world.

In the clip, the owner of the Olde Salem Magic Shoppe, Gilbert (Sam Richardson), explains, “Legend has it, it’s on the 16th birthday that a witch gets her powers.”
As the teaser progresses, Becca and Izzy’s graveyard rite makes the infamous Black Flame Candle to ignite, bringing back the Sanderson sisters from the dead.
In October of 2019, it was confirmed that a Hocus Pocus movie was in the works for Disney+. Then, one year later, Bette Midler confirmed the original cast would reunite for the film.
“They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” Midler explains to Fox 5 New York. “I’m game, I’m totally game.”
