Lone permanent member of Smashing Pumpkins and owner of the National Wrestling Alliance Billy Corgan is out here stumping for Nickelback. William Patrick Corgan, if you will, offered praise for Nickelback and its frontman Chad Kroeger on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“He’s an incredible songwriter,” Corgan said of Kroeger. Corgan went on to praise Nickelback’s position in the popular music sphere, likening pop to porn.
“Pop is predicated on satisfying. I’ve said many times pop is porn. It’s porn, they want to get you off. It’s just how they’re going to get you off. I’m not that concerned with getting you off. I’m just not.”
Nickelback have often been the target of criticism from music fans. A Prince Edward Island police department even used Nickelback as a deterrent for driving under the influence of alcohol, threatening to hit potential drunk drivers with a heavy dose of the band’s music.
Love or hate their music, they’ve sold a lot of records. Father John Misty lent his support for the oft-maligned rockers earlier this year, declaring “I will ride for Nickelback.” So, Corgan’s not alone in defending Alberta’s lords of butt-rock.
