According to Deadline, the show is part of a new five-year exclusive deal between Disney and Coogler’s Proximity Media, which will see Proximity developing content beyond the Disney+ streaming service.
The Wakanda project may not be the only Marvel Cinematic Universe series the production company will be creating, as “we will be working closely with [Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios] on select MCU shows for Disney+,” Coogler explains. “We’re already in the mix on some projects that we can’t wait to share.”
Currently, Coogler is working on bringing Black Panther 2 to theaters, and while filming is anticipated to begin in July, details on how the movie will deal with the passing of star Chadwick Boseman are yet to be released.
