Bleachers performed at Newport Folk Festival on Saturday (July 23rd) where they brought out Clairo and Lucy Dacus for a cover of The National’s “Bloodbuzz Ohio.”
The National performed at the festival the evening before Bleachers, and Clairo and Dacus also were on the Newport Folk Festival lineup. So, Bleachers decided to pay tribute to The National with a cover of their High Violet standout, “Blood Buzz Ohio.”
“Thank you for singing bloodbuzz! I wish we could have done it with you all,” The National’s Bryce Dessner wrote on Antonoff’s Instagram after the performance.

Bleachers are no strangers to covers. In fact, prior to this cover of “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” they covered The Cars’ “Drive” for Spotify’s Live At Electric Lady series back in November.
Jack Antonoff and co. took part in Spotify’s Live At Electric Lady series, where they performed a whole slew of songs. Bleachers performed a live version of “Chinatown” with Bruce Springsteen and “What’d I Do With All This Faith?” with St. Vincent. The 8-track collection also boasts their new cover of The Cars’ “Drive.”
Aside from “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” Clairo has also been taking part in several festival collaborations as of late. In June, she joined Lorde on stage with Arlo Parks to play “Stoned At The Nail Salon” at Glastonbury. Then in July, she recruited Phoebe Bridgers in Milan to perform her Immunity track, “Bags.”
