‘blink182’ is one of the most commonly hackable passwords based on pop culture

What's my password again?

According to a new study by UK’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), using Blink-182 as a password is not a safe bet, to say the least.

CNN reports that the NCSC has analyzed passwords that have been breached on a global scale, and they found that the most popular musical password was “blink182.” Thanks to its natural combination of letters and numbers, your favourite mainstream pop-punk band is a pretty easy password to hack. Other easily hackable passwords included “liverpool,” “ashley,” and “superman.”

“Password re-use is a major risk that can be avoided,” NCSC Technical Director Ian Levy explained in a statement. “Nobody should protect sensitive data with something that can be guessed, like their first name, local football team, or favourite band.”
