Bloc Party is finally in the studio recording their next album.
Back in March, frontman Kele Okereke said that the British group have “started recording” their next LP, even though bassist Gordon Moakes and drummer Matt Tong recently left the group.
In the most recent video, Okereke’s distorted voice is accompanied by in-studio guitar and synths. Check out the 20 second clip here:

Bloc Party’s last album came in 2012, and they’ve been on a hiatus since. Okereke and guitarist Russell Lissack are currently the only members.
“I guess it’s the first time that I have talked about it but we are making a record at the moment,” Okereke told an Triple J. “It’s sounding like nothing that we’ve done before but that’s what everyone always says. We’re at the writing/recording phase. We’ve started recording – I think we have about 18 [song] ideas and we’re going to lay them down properly in the next few months.”
The new material, he says, is “an evolution of where we were. So far there’s nothing that I can compare it to really in terms of other musicians, whereas in the past I always could – we were always trying to reference something else.”
