Riding your bike down Bloor will no longer be a dangerous endeavor.
Lanes designed specifically for bikes will finally find a home on Bloor Street, with construction beginning August 2nd. The new lanes will run along Bloor from Avenue to Shaw, the Toronto Star reports.
The lanes are said to be ready by mid-August, as council approved the pilot earlier this year, after years of advocacy from the cycling community.
The city will reevaluate in 2017 to decide whether or not to keep them.
Construction will continue around the clock from Monday to Friday and is scheduled to last about two weeks, weather depending. During that time there will be no on-street parking, and traffic will be reduced to one lane for each direction.
